한국 갤러리 비선재와 일본 도쿄 아트워크의 협업 프로그램 ≪JK-G Competition≫은 전도유망한 일본 젊은 작가들을 경쟁 심사를 통해 선발하고, 이후 한국 갤러리 비선재에서 연례 전시를 여는 프로젝트이다. 한일 양국 미술계의 원로와 중진들이 심사에 참여하여 공정성을 기했으며, 일본의 다채롭고 개성 있는 젊은 작가들을 발굴하고, 이를 통해 한일 문화교류의 역사를 이어가는 취지를 지닌다. 1968년 도쿄국립근대미술관의 ≪한국현대회화전≫과 1980년대 동경화랑의 ≪휴먼도큐멘트≫ 기획전은 역사적인 한일 교류전으로 평가된다. 그러나 2000년대 이후 양국 교류전은 기대만큼 활기를 띠지 못했다. ≪JK-G Competition≫은 21세기 신미술 확립을 목표로 한 장기 프로젝트로, 일본TV BS11의 방송 후원 아래 심사와 전시 과정을 공개한다.

이번 기획전 ≪Yes, We Can≫展에는 일본 각지에서 응모한 작가 중 최종 선발된 6인이 참여하며, 전시 제목에는 긍정과 미래 세대에 대한 축원, 한일 양국 교류 증진, 회화 매체의 번성을 기리는 의미가 담겨 있다. 올해 선발 작가는 카와베 아리사, 타무로 아야노, 아야노 야야, 오누마 히로아키, 카츠라 노리코, 토요이며, 특별 선발 작가로 시부타 카오루가 참여한다. 이번 전시는 개성 넘치는 일본 젊은 세대의 세계관을 보여주며, 미래 동아시아 미술계의 활력 있는 비전을 제시하는 계기가 될 것이다.

Gallery Bisunjae (Korea) and Tokyo Art Work (Japan) present the collaborative program, ≪JK-G Competition≫. Emerging Japanese artists are selected through a competitive process and showcased annually at Gallery Bisunjae. Senior and established figures from both countries ensure fair judging, with the goal of discovering diverse, talented young artists and strengthening Korea–Japan cultural exchange. While historical exchanges such as the 1968 ≪Korean Contemporary Painting≫ at the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo and the 1980s ≪Human Document≫ series were milestones, artistic exchanges in the 2000s did not gain expected momentum. ≪JK-G Competition≫ is a long-term project aimed at establishing 21st-century new art, with selection and exhibition processes broadcast by Japan TV BS11.

The group exhibition ≪Yes, We Can≫ features six selected artists from across Japan, embodying a message of positivity, blessings for future generations, Korea–Japan exchange, and the flourishing of painting. This year’s selected artists are Arisa Kawabe, Ayano Tamuro, Yaya Ayano, Hiroaki Onuma, Noriko Katsura, and Toyo, with special participation by Kaoru Shibuta. The exhibition reflects the distinctive perspectives of Japan’s young generation and serves as a catalyst for a dynamic vision of East Asian contemporary art.
